Together Beyond Words Workshops
Creating Safe Havens to Feel and Heal
When we listen, we offer with our attention an opportunity for wholeness.
Our listening creates sanctuary for the homeless parts within the other person.
That which has been denied, unloved, devalued by themselves and others.
That which is hidden.
– Rachel Naomi Remen
Background:
In conflicts across the Middle East and around the world, we often witness people acting out unresolved inner pain, expressed as prejudice, intolerance, and violence. These reactions create further harm, deepening wounds and perpetuating cycles of suffering.
Our workshops offer a safe and supportive space to feel, express, and transform that pain. By healing at the personal level, we interrupt the transmission of trauma and create new possibilities for connection, resilience, and peace.
Goals:
- Cultivate compassion for ourselves and one another
- Develop tools to transform personal and collective pain related to conflict
- Foster understanding and empathy for the narrative of the “other”
- Empower and train women to apply their unique peacebuilding gifts and take a central role in peace efforts
- Support men in liberating their hearts—expanding their capacity to feel, heal, and connect
Our workshops include:
Opening and Closing Circles
These shared moments help create a safe and grounded container for the work. They support connection, reflection, and integration of what arises during the sessions.Dance and Movement Therapy
Through joyful movement, dance, non-competitive games, and creative self-expression, participants reconnect with their bodies and rediscover the pleasure of being alive. This process also brings awareness to emotional wounds stored in the body and creates space for healing.Listening Partnerships
In pairs or small groups, participants practice deep, non-judgmental listening—especially to the narrative of the “other.” This powerful exchange allows past pain (often awakened during movement work) to be expressed, witnessed, and transformed. As a result, participants discover new, more compassionate ways to respond to difficult situations and triggers.Healing Touch Techniques
Gentle, respectful touch on the back and shoulders helps ease physical tension, foster connection and calm, and deepen the body’s innate capacity for healing. These practices nurture a sense of safety, closeness, and embodied wisdom.Real-Life Application
Participants leave with practical tools and insights they can use in their families and communities. In this way, the healing continues beyond the workshop—laying the foundation for a more compassionate, connected society.
